New first-line cargo warehouse at Malpensa

magazzino cargo

As part of the infrastructure and capacity development strategy of Milano Malpensa Cargo, SEA has promoted the development of a new first-line cargo warehouse within Cargo City, further strengthening the airport’s role as a leading cargo hub at national and international level.
In this context, following the award of the tender launched by SEA, dnata, through its Italian subsidiary Airport Handling, announced in December 2025 a €25 million investment for the development of the new warehouse.

The project, enabled by the planning framework and infrastructure layout defined by SEA, includes the construction of a first-line warehouse of approximately 10,000 sqm, directly connected to the airside, with an annual handling capacity exceeding 100,000 tonnes of cargo. The new infrastructure will enhance the airport’s overall operational offering, enabling Airport Handling to manage the main cargo typologies in an integrated manner, while supporting employment growth within the local logistics sector.

The project has been developed in accordance with BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) criteria, in line with SEA’s strategic guidelines on environmental sustainability. The building will be equipped with high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as on-site renewable energy generation solutions, supporting efficient operations with a reduced environmental impact.

The project involves the redevelopment of already urbanised areas within Cargo City and forms part of the projects approved under the Malpensa Airport Masterplan.
