Smart City

Malpensa Cargo digital ecosystem

The Smart City of Goods is the digital ecosystem of Malpensa's Cargo City that enables the sharing and integration of data on shipments and transportation among the various actors in Malpensa's cargo supply chain, with the goal of improving the export goods management process.

How does it work?

The system enables the exchange of information between the key players in the cargo supply chain, providing a solution that can be integrated with existing TMS, without interfering with the commercial and administrative operations of each operator.

1

Information on goods
The freight forwarder (FF) transmits information on the AWB and any HAWB, as well as customs and security information about the goods. The latter two entities can be delegated to a CAD (customs only) or an Handler-off-Airport (HoA).
2

Transport information
The FF transmits information on the transportation manifest, pallets (if any), and transport security details (optional). The entry of this information can be delegated to an HoA.
3

Slot booking (Work In Progress)
Through the Smart Unload application, the FF books the unloading slot at MXP, and the hauler arrives during the indicated time window.
